Upper Flume Trail | Roderick Haig Provincial Park
TRAIL NAME: UPPER FLUME TRAIL ‘TRAIL 6’
DISTANCE : FULL ~4.5 KM
TIME: 2-3 HOURS ROUND-TRIP
DIFFICULTY: MEDIUM- MORE DEMANDING
BEST TIME TO GO: ANYTIME OF THE YEAR (Winter may be closed)
Cannot express how much i loved this trail. It was a great surprise since it wasn’t part of my original itinerary. The Upper Flume Trail (trail 6) is located in Roderick Haig Provincial Park. You have to take a drive north/west through the length of the park (its long and irregular shaped). The park is full of splendid trails, but this was hands down the highlight!
At first it starts off tame, but then it gets loud and amazing. The further up the trail you go the crazier the current gets. The water just pounds down this river so hard, that you physically feel the base of the water trembling at your feet. It is both awesome, terrifying, and one of the coolest feelings i have ever felt. The majority of the the trail is relatively easy to walk, but their is one portion that is consistently steep, and if you are weak in the knees the steep section of this trail will be challenging (you can still do part of the trail, it’s amazing throughout).
And this is one of those posts that is better seen than explained. Please enjoy!
