Who am I?

Hello, my name is Alicja Kraska, and welcome to my currently expanding and evolving travel blog.

I am an amateur photographer, artist, and travel enthusiast with an overflowing wardrobe.

My travel journey started with the advent of my husband (at the time boyfriend) moving away to Australia for a few years. Amidst the long-distance relationship, I managed to visit twice spending a total of just under three months total in Australia (2012-2013). It was probably the scariest solo travel flight I have ever taken; having only travelled previously with family to Poland. A total of 26 hours of travel between flights and a short layover, I had finally arrived at my destination, the Gold Coast. That is the point where the travel bug truly ignited in me. For as long as I could remember I wanted to travel and see the world, but it wasn’t until I started that I realized the diverse culture, geography and mystery of it all. This is why people travel; to feel lost in the towering trees of the tambourine mountains, to feel the cold wet mist of the brisk cloud rainforests, to see the most breathtaking sunrises rocking in a catamaran above the great barrier reef, and the list goes on.

Since then I have not wanted to stop… and I don’t plan to. I am no travel nomad but I try to experience the most of home and all the destinations I am lucky enough to see. I want to share all the amazing experiences I have had since my journey started and to show you to enjoy the best of your local gems. There are so many destinations to see just a few hours away from home. All it takes is a weekend and an open sense of adventure to start your journey. And a huge part to remember in this, take your time and enjoy the journey.

More About Us!

We are a travelling couple

Based in Canada, I travel alongside my wonderful husband (no kids yet!). We are a team when it comes to planning our adventures. I generally plan the itinerary’s and my husband tracks down the amazing deals from flights to hotels. We have a polish heritage and are fluent in the language.

When I am not travelling away from home, I am wandering locally, painting, hiking, relaxing with friends and finding the best pastry shops around. Some of my favourite things include foxes, fresh flowers, fruit tarts, cinnamon buns and sundresses. My husband loves scuba diving, motorcycles and exploring remote destinations. Locally, he enjoys hilarious nights with friends; his humour and storytelling skills are second to none.

My husband is a bit camera shy so he won’t appear too often in my photo posts. But of worthy note, he partakes in the larger half of the photography seen on this website, so he is always with us in spirit (or behind the lens).
