Tulip Surprise

This past week, as i was traveling around British Colombia, Canada. We were lucky enough to make it for the last weekend of the Abbotsford Tulip Festival! It was an amazing surprise, especially since we originally thought all the flowers would be past bloom.
I was super excited to see the tulips in the distance as we were driving down the highway towards Vancouver. We made the stop and prepped our gear. Due to the mass amounts of rain the region received recently, the fields were very very muddy all around and between the tulips. And i don’t mean a little mud, i mean ankle deep, slip and slide for your life kind of mud. We purchased shoe covers [2$ a pair] at a stall just before you approach the fields, and for the most part they held up pretty good. But by the end of our tulip adventure my husband, myself and one of our friends all had holes in them and we ended up with partially muddy shoes. If you choose to venture here next year bring a pair of rain boots or waterproof shoes [regardless of weather conditions].
Seeing the tulips was 100% worth it, mud and all. Thousands of stunning blooms, in all shapes colours and sizes. It feels like it was right out of a fairy tale. Their was so many different varieties to look at and every time i took a picture of one i liked, another would catch my eye [it was a vicious cycle]. We spent over an hour just wandering around.
They also give you the option to purchase some flowers or pick your own [ i believe it was 1$ per stem].
Weekend prices were $25 each for weekends but you can save a couple bucks if you purchase online directly through the Abbotsford Tulip Festival home web-page.
Best Time to See: Mid April – Mid May (may change slightly every year due to weather)
